Pro Bono Volunteering
CFP® professionals across the country provide free, no-strings-attached, financial advice to underserved people in need. Pro bono financial planning helps people take control of their financial lives and has a positive impact on individuals, families and communities — and elevates and enriches the financial planning profession.

Begin Your Journey in Pro Bono Financial Planning
Pro bono financial planning changes the lives of the most financially vulnerable Americans, including domestic violence survivors, widows, wounded veterans, immigrants, cancer patients and others.
Through our partnership with the Foundation for Financial Planning, CFP Board’s Pro Bono Initiative connects expert CFP® professionals to those people, families and communities in crisis or need.
It may feel overwhelming to get started on your pro bono journey. We are here to help. Together with the Foundation for Financial Planning, we will provide you with the training (CE credit eligible), resources and tools you need to be a successful pro bono volunteer. Once you are ready to begin, the Foundation for Financial Planning will match you with volunteer opportunities. We also will provide you with examples of successful pro bono engagements and ways to develop the skills and techniques to be most effective — plus more.
