CFP Board engages in public policy advocacy to support our mission of benefiting the public and ensuring that consumers have access to competent and ethical financial planning services. We work in the public interest to advance the financial planning profession.

Our Priorities

CFP Board focuses on policy areas where we can make the greatest difference in helping consumers plan for a more secure tomorrow. When needed, we draw on the strength and collaboration of coalition partners. Areas of focus include:

  • Fiduciary Standard of Conduct
  • Retirement Security Issues
  • Investor Disclosure and Testing
  • Recognition of the Financial Planning Profession
  • Private Certification

Public Policy Council

CFP Board's Public Policy Council advises on issues and positions related to public policy.
