About CFP Board
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) is a non-profit organization that serves the public by fostering professional standards in personal financial planning. We set and enforce the requirements for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification — to create competent and ethical financial planners who are committed to putting their clients' best interests first.

A History of Setting the Professional Standard
CFP Board was founded in 1985 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves the public interest by promoting the value of professional, competent and ethical financial planning services, as represented by those who have attained CFP® certification.
There were more than 88,000 CFP® professionals in 2020, representing about 1 in 5 financial advisors in the U.S.
