CFP Board Elects Three to Board of Directors

New Directors Bring Wealth of Experiences in Financial Services Industry, Financial Planning

WASHINGTON, DC, November 17, 2010 – Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) announced today that it has elected three new Directors to the Board of Directors: Charles G. Goldman, Robert Hayden, CFP® and Susan Hirshman, CFP®.

“The Board of Directors is pleased to have these distinguished individuals bring their many talents to CFP Board,” said 2010 Chair Robert J. Glovsky, CFP® and President of Mintz Levin Financial Advisors. “We look forward to their contributions in raising awareness of CFP® certification and CFP Board’s long-term success.”

Goldman, Hayden and Hirshman’s appointments were approved at the Board of Directors fall meeting. Their terms begin January 1, 2011. Leaving the board will be Glovsky, Theodore Daniels and Nancy Johnson-Jones, CFP®. The Board has 13 voting members and one non-voting member, Kevin R. Keller, CAE – Chief Executive Officer of CFP Board.

About the new Directors:

Charles G. Goldman is currently an advisor to Bain & Company, Goldman Sachs, several Registered Investment Advisors, Boulder Ventures, and several start-up firms. Previously, Goldman was President of Fidelity Investments, Custody & Clearing, where he was responsible for three of Fidelity’s businesses. Prior to joining Fidelity, Goldman was an executive vice president and head of Schwab Institutional from 2001 to 2008 and President and Chief Operating Officer of Paramount Farms, Inc. and Paramount Citrus Association from 1996 to 2000. He currently serves on the board of the Foundation for Financial Planning. Goldman received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance, magna cum laude, from the University of Southern California in 1987. He also received his MBA with honors in general management from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1991.

Robert Hayden, CFP® works in the Family Office International division of BNY Mellon Wealth Management. In this role, he manages over 100 fiduciary accounts on behalf of ultra high net worth clients whose assets with the Bank exceed $100 million. Hayden is licensed to practice law in New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia. He is an adjunct professor at The City University of New York, where he teaches Estate Planning. Currently, Hayden is pursuing an M.B.A. in Tax and International Finance at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. In addition to being a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, he is a member of the Estate Planning Council of New York City, The New York Bar Association and The Financial Planning Association - New York Chapter.

Susan Hirshman, CFP® is president of SHE LTD, a consulting firm focused on enhancing the financial literacy of women globally. Author of Does This Make My Assets Look Fat?, Hirshman often speaks at wealth management conferences throughout the country, has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Money, and Kiplinger’s about personal finance issues and interviewed on business news programs such CNBC’s “Power Lunch.” Previously, she was a Managing Director with JP Morgan Wealth Management and also worked at a global accounting firm. In addition to being a CFP® professional, she is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).
