Free Metro Washington DC Financial Planning Day to Benefit Local Residents

District of Columbia to host fifth annual Financial Planning Day Oct. 25th, featuring dozens of local CFP® professionals offering free, unbiased financial advice

We’ve all heard that there’s no free lunch. But in these challenging economic times, area residents will be able to get free financial planning advice and guidance from highly qualified Certified Financial Planner™ professionals at the fifth annual Metro Washington Financial Planning Day, Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Columbia Heights Educational Campus in Washington, D.C.

Dozens of local CFP® professionals will volunteer their time to meet with local residents one-on-one to address a wide range of personal finance questions, including those on retirement planning, getting out of debt, investment strategies, income taxes, insurance, estate planning and mortgage loans, among many others.  The advice will be offered on a “no strings attached” basis meaning that planners will not sell any products or services planners, or even give out business cards.  

The event will also feature a series of classroom-style educational workshops presented by top financial planners, including: Financial Planning for Women, Real World Retirement Planning, Investing Basics: Be a Smart Investor, and Young Professionals: Launching Your Financial Plan.

Metro Washington Financial Planning Day is organized by the Government of the District of Columbia in partnership with the Financial Planning Association of the National Capital Area, and is part of the national Financial Planning Days initiative created by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Financial Planning Association, Foundation for Financial Planning and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.  The initiative aims to unite the collective resources of the financial planning community and city governments nationwide to assist Americans in need of financial guidance.

TO PARTICIPATE:  Metro Washington Financial Planning Day is free and open to the public.  Members of the news media are invited to attend the event and interview the organizers.  The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Columbia Heights Educational Campus, located at 3101 16th St NW in Washington, DC.  Events will begin at 11 a.m. and will run until 4 p.m. The venue is conveniently located just one block from the Columbia Heights Metro Station.
