Engaging Diverse Students

Successfully Maintaining CFP Board Registered Programs & Best Practices for Engaging Diverse Students, published by CFP Board Center for Financial Planning in partnership with Charles Schwab Foundation, focuses on the fundamental role academic programs play on the path to a career in financial planning and their impact on the profession’s diversity.

Conducted by Dr. Miranda Reiter, CFP®, the study includes results from a survey of CFP Board Registered Program directors at various institutions around the country, revealing successes and challenges in maintaining an academic undergraduate program. It highlights the experiences of students, faculty and other stakeholders in CFP Board registered undergraduate programs and sheds light on the disparities between minority-serving institutions (colleges or universities that enroll a specified percentage of “minority” students and/or less than 50% of students are white) and predominantly white institutions. Finally, the report suggests a range of actionable steps that academic programs, firms and professionals can take to engage diverse students and maintain successful academic programs.
